Flamenco Dance Introduction Workshop  with Maestro Daniel de Còrdoba.

This  one & a half hour  fun filled flamenco dance  workshop is an introduction to flamenco & Spanish dancing through brief commentary, basic hand, arm and body movement, percussive foot beats, and rhythmic handclapping. 

What is Flamenco?

Its origins hail from Andalusia in southern Spain. It is very popular in Spain and is known worldwide. It is a fusion of cross cultures in Spain. Namely Andalucian Spanish, Moorish, Jewish & Romany (Gypsy) influences .

Flamenco is an art form consisting Cante (song), Guitarra (guitar music), Baile (dance) and Jaleo( hand claps, heel stamps, castanets & vocal exclamations of encouragement such as “ole”.)

 

Daniel de Còrdoba

Daniel de Còrdoba is a bonafide veteran performer, dance master, educator, choreographer and teaching artist.

He is founder and director of the Daniel de Córdoba Bailes Españoles Company in Dallas Texas. An original founding core member of the Latino Cultural Center. He is a recipient of a Big Thought Fellowship  and  trained extensively at Lincoln Center Institute (New York City) for teaching artists

His 36 year affiliation with Big Thought & The City of Dallas, OCA has provided him the opportunity to perform, teach, and be in residency in almost every elementary school, library, recreation center and varied prestigious ventues throughout North Texas.. He is presently teaches at Royale Ballet Academy & Reverchon Park Recreation Center. Daniel recently was awarded special recognition by Mayor Johnson and the City of Dallas for his many years of contributions to the fine arts.

Although semi- retired, he is relocating and is looking forward to participating and contributing to the arts community in Hot Springs.

If you RSVP without paying, please make arrangements a week before class time to pay or cancel. Our teachers may also need to prep materials, and space can sometimes be limited, so please sign up as soon as possible so they can plan. Thank you!*
