Art and Soul (Kid's 9 and up)
Join us for a 4 week session focusing on your Art and your Soul. Spend 45 minutes at the beginner's watercolor class while your child learns beginner yoga asanas, or poses, and fundamental sequences. Then you will switch, and they will learn about watercolor while you focus on yoga. No experience is necessary at all!
The class costs $20 per parent or guardian/child combo for the entire 1.5 hours, $80 for the 4 weeks. A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 participants per class. We will start simple and improve on these classes each week, but if you cannot commit to all 4 weeks, that is okay. We will not leave you behind, we promise!
Materials required for yoga: yoga mat and clothes that are comfortable for movement
Materials required for watercolor: a desire to learn something new and to have fun
Hattie's Bio: I'm Hattie Mae, and I want to share my love of yoga with you! I started practicing yoga in 2010 as a safe way to stay healthy before the birth of my son. I was not a big fan. When I went into my first live class, everything changed and I was hooked almost immediately. My passion for yoga grew with my practice, and I recently completed my 200-hr RYT in Rocket Yoga in May of 2023. As a mom, I feel called to make yoga more accessible to children and families, and this session aims to do just that. Whether you are experienced or brand new to yoga, I can't wait to meet you on the mat!
Marci's Bio: Art has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I took art classes every chance I could, and at LSU I took every type of art class that I thought would help me improve my skills. It has always been a method of comfort and relaxation, and a way to unplug from the stresses of the world. In 2019, I picked up watercolor by taking online classes and I haven't stopped. It has been a perfect companion for this age and stage of my life; something I can enjoy in quick or long spurts, with easy clean-up. It is my goal to create art every day as a way to feel better through my artistic expression. My desire is to share with others how valuable art can be as a way to express themselves more freely.
Our connection: 33 years ago, Marci was a college student at LSU and Hattie was an energetic 5 year old in the church nursery. Marci quickly loved Hattie and her family, and began babysitting quite frequently. Hattie's dad taught Marci the joy of southern cooking and even prepared the meal for Marci and her husband's dress rehearsal for their wedding. Their families have stayed close all these years and Hattie even moved up to Hot Springs to join Marci at the Hot Springs Off-Road Park. When not working together, Marci and Hattie spend time on the mat and creating art.
These two forms of art have brought us much joy and we want to share that with you. We hope you will join us!
