Under Pressure Annual Steamroller Print Preparation Workshop

    Ages 14 to adult; March 8 and 9, 12:30-4:30

Fee with basic supplies to be used during classtime: $40

Fee with basic supplies and 24x30" MDF Board: $55

Fee with basic supplies, 24x30" MDF Board, and Richeson Student Wood Chisels - Set of 12: $66 (this option only available until February 21st)

For the 3rd year in a row, the Hot Springs Cultural Alliance will be bringing the Under Pressure steamroller event to the Arts & the Park festival. Under Pressure is unique because it allows artists to print large scale artworks with carved relief, wooden plates. To take part in the free printing event during Arts & the Park, register with the Cultural Alliance here: https://hotspringsarts.org/under-pressure-guidelines/

This class is not required to take part in the printing event, but if you would like to participate, and aren't sure where to start, the Under Pressure Annual Steamroller Print Preparation Workshop at Emergent Arts is a good place to begin.

Master Printer, Terri Thoman, is back with us for a weekend to prime our boards, plan our compositions, and begin carving. Terri has participated in multiple steamroller print events in different communities and is well-versed in what makes a good print when working on this larger scale and with different types of wooden plates.

During the Under Pressure Annual Steamroller Print Preparation Workshop, you have the option of bringing your own wood or purchasing a 24" x 30" MDF wood plate from us. We'll be providing the shellac mixture to prime your MDF, and if you decide to, you may purchase carving tools from us.

A weekend is not enough time to finish your carvings, however, you'll be well on your way so that you'll be ready for the Under Pressure print event in April.

Financial Aid scholarships may be available. Please email kara@emergentarts.org for more information.

This class is brought to you in conjunction with the Hot Springs Cultural Alliance.
