    • In the time-honored tradition of the Urasenke Tea Ceremony, learners embark on a meticulous journey of refinement and mindfulness. Beginning with the precise arrangement of the tea room, participants carefully cleanse and purify the space, symbolizing the importance of harmony and respect.  Learners begin with folding the silk napkin (fukusa) for purification and then get to partake in homemade Japanese sweets and matcha, devoted to each season.  Through dedicated practice of the Urasenke Tea Ceremony, learners cultivate not only a mastery of technique but also a profound appreciation for the beauty and harmony of Japanese culture.

    Unleash Your Inner Artist

Everyone can paint this mountain scene using the wet-on-wet oil painting technique made famous by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Bob Ross.

Sometimes called the “alla prima” technique, you will complete this painting from canvas preparation to adding your unique signature in one sitting. Join Collective Arts Gallery artist John Chiego for this fun and informative class introducing the oil painting technique that will allow you to unleash your “Inner Artist”. All materials will be provided and no painting experience is necessary. However, if you are a painter and have natural bristle brushes that you would like to use you are more than welcome to use your own brushes. The brushes you will need for the class are a 1 inch brush, a #3 fan blender brush, a #5 straight-edge palette knife, and a fine point or script liner brush.

Come and unleash YOUR “Inner Artist” on Saturday, June 1st, from 12:00-3:00 at the Emergent Arts Gallery and Studio, 341-A Whittington Ave, in Hot Springs.
